- Select Choose files, or drop your PNG images on the page. You can paste a copied screenshot too.
- Check the note on each row. It says "Has transparent areas." or "No transparency." for that file.

- Select Download for one JPG, or Download all (ZIP) when you converted a group.
Why a PNG photo is so much bigger
PNG records every pixel exactly. That is ideal for a logo with five flat colors, and wasteful for a photograph, where neighboring pixels differ by tiny amounts. JPG is built for that kind of picture. It drops detail your eye rarely misses, and a photo saved as JPG is often a fraction of the PNG's size.
This is why phone screenshots of photos, exports from design apps and scans saved as PNG can hit email and upload limits so quickly.
JPG is the wrong choice for some pictures. Screenshots full of small text, sharp diagrams and flat-color graphics can pick up a faint fuzz around the edges. If crisp lines matter more than file size, keep the PNG. If you only need to get under a limit, open Advanced settings (optional) to set a quality or a maximum file size, or run the result through Compress Image.
The same menu can resize the picture while it converts, which saves a second pass through Image Resizer. By default, location and camera details are removed from the saved file.
What happens to transparent areas
JPG has no transparent pixels. A PNG with a see-through background must be given a solid one, or the converter would have to invent a color for each empty pixel. A tool that guesses can leave a logo sitting on a dark box.
Here the choice is yours. The Background for transparent areas card starts on white and offers quick swatches for black and light gray. A color field accepts any other shade. Match it to where the picture will be used: white for a document or a web page, a brand color for a banner, black for a dark slide.
Edges deserve a look. A logo with soft, anti-aliased edges blends into the background color you choose, so a white fill gives a clean result on a white page and a pale halo on a dark one. If you see a halo, convert again with a background closer to the final surface.
Transparency can't survive the trip. Once the JPG is saved, the fill is part of the picture, and you can't take it back out. Keep your PNG original if you may need the clear version later. To go the other direction, JPG to PNG makes a PNG, though it can't restore transparency that a JPG never had.
Which of my files have transparency?
A PNG can look completely opaque and still carry a transparency channel, or look like a flat graphic while it actually has none. The only way to know is to read the file.
After each PNG converts, its row reports what was found. Has transparent areas. means the background setting changed something in that file. No transparency. means the setting made no difference, and the JPG matches the picture you saw.
In a mixed batch this is a quick way to sort things out. Photos and screenshots usually say "No transparency", while logos, icons and cutouts say "Has transparent areas". If one row surprises you, open Compare to see the original next to the JPG.
Every file in a batch shares the same background color. When one logo needs black and the rest need white, use that row's settings button to give it its own color, then apply the change.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert PNG to JPG?
Add your PNG files to this page and each one converts on its own. Choose a background color if the row says it has transparent areas, then select Download. For several files, Download all (ZIP) saves them together. The JPG opens in any app, camera roll or upload form.
Does converting PNG to JPG reduce file size?
Usually, for photographs. JPG discards fine detail that PNG keeps, so a photo can shrink to a fraction of its size. Simple graphics and screenshots with flat colors gain less, and may look slightly fuzzy around edges. If the result is still too big, set a lower quality in Advanced settings.
What happens to a transparent PNG when I convert it to JPG?
The transparent areas are filled with a solid color, because JPG cannot store transparency. The fill starts as white, and you can switch it to black, light gray or any color. After saving, the color is permanent, so keep the PNG if you need the clear version again.
How can I tell if my PNG has a transparent background?
Look at the note on the file row after it converts. It reads "Has transparent areas." when the PNG contains transparency and "No transparency." when it does not. Compare also shows the original, so you can check how the fill color sits behind the artwork.
Why does my converted logo have a white box around it?
Your PNG had a transparent background, and the converter filled it with the Background for transparent areas color, which starts as white. Change that color to match the page or slide where the logo will appear. If you need no box at all, keep the PNG, since JPG cannot be see-through.
Does PNG to JPG lower the image quality?
JPG is lossy, so some detail is discarded each time one is saved. At the default quality the difference is hard to see in photos. Pick a higher quality in Advanced settings if you want a safer margin, at the cost of a larger file.
Is it safe to convert private screenshots here?
Yes. Conversion happens in your browser and the screenshots are never uploaded, so nothing is stored on a server. There is no signup, and the JPG has no watermark. Closing the page clears the images from it, and nothing is left behind in a cloud account or a download history on our side.
